The blokart – parts & accessories

So … you have seen the blokart of your dreams? There’s a good chance the ‘kart is everything the seller says it is. But, if you would like a second opinion, there are Club members who are more than happy to help you make your decision. Our Club members pride themselves on their ‘kart preparation and maintenance, and are available to help new or prospective Club members with buying their own ‘kart.

The Club buys Blokart brand tyres and some other tyre brands, tubes and wheel bearings in bulk. The savings are passed on to Club members. These items can be purchased on any Club day at AFMNZ Wigram. Payment on the day is not required. An invoice will be sent and payment made by internet banking,

If buying new, ‘karts, and all parts & accessories are available from Blokart International Ltd (BIL) through their online store. The great thing about replacing blokart parts is that every item can be purchased separately.

Not sure what a part is called, check out the exploded diagrams of a blokart here.

Already have a blokart but unsure how to assemble it, here’s the good oil.

Blokarts come in two main setups – Production and Performance. The Production ‘kart is ‘ready to sail’ out of the bag. The Performance ‘kart has a pod (fairing) and carbon mast sections, as well as a more advanced down-haul system. There is also a Shadow unit (second seat) that can be attached to the Production ‘kart allowing two people to enjoy the blokart fun.

Blokart sails are referred to as a ‘2’, ‘3’, ‘4’ or ‘5.5’ metre. The numbers refer to the size of the sail, that is, its surface area or square meterage. It is not the height of the sail. A ‘2 metre’ sail is sometimes referred to as a ‘storm sail‘ and the ‘5.5 metre’ sail is colloquially known as a ‘5 metre’ sail. The ‘rule’ for how many mast sections are needed for each sail size can be remembered by ‘adding one’ to the sail size. For example a ‘3 metre’ sail needs four mast sections.

.

Depending on the wind strength, the weight of the sailor, and the confidence and experience of the sailor, there are many permutations and combinations of mast sections that can be used with the different size sails. Check it out below.
