Blokart Sailing Rules

The table below gives you a summary of the rules for blokart sailing. The rules are designed to prevent altercations and collisions. For the full set of IBRA rules please go to Edition 9 of the IBRA Blokart Sailing Rules.

Edition 9 of the IBRA rules came into effect from 1 January 2024,  and will remain in effect until end of December 2025, after which a new edition of the rules may be published, or this edition extended. Only minor changes and corrections have been made to these rules from the previous Edition. Significant edits are highlighted by a line in the left-hand margin. No changes have been made to the sailing rules in Part E. The changes do include some minor corrections and updates to the protest procedures in Part G, the protest flow chart in Appendix D1, and protest and redress forms in Appendix E and F.

It is important to note that when you are sailing at some specific blokart club locations some sailing rules may differ from the official rules. For example, when sailing at Wigram, the downward ‘kart is required to give way to the upward ‘kart even if this means that the downward ‘kart needs to ‘go to grass‘ (sail off the sealed surface and on to the grass to avoid the upward ‘kart).
