Try Blokart Sailing

Try blokart sailing

Ready to give blokart sailing a go – or perhaps treat someone else to the thrill? Whether you’re booking for yourself or buying a voucher as a gift, Canterbury Blokart Club Inc. makes it easy to get you rolling.

Blokart sailing is a fun, wind-powered adventure that everyone can enjoy. You can sail solo, sail with an instructor in a double ‘kart or simply sit back and relax while being taken for a spin – it’s pretty much your choice. We find that many visitors who start off ‘being sailed’ soon want to change seats and take the reins … well, actually the tiller and sheet rope.

No sailing experience is needed. We provide the blokart, helmet, gloves, and friendly guidance to get you started. All sessions take place at Air Force Museum of New Zealand (Wigram), the former RNZAF Base Wigram.

Please note that the Club operates only on Sundays and most hire sessions run from about midday to 1.15 p.m. To be up and sailing by 12.30 p.m., you will need to arrive at Wigram by about 12.10 p.m.

Children under the age of 12 can only sail in the Club’s tandem (side by side) ‘kart and must be accompanied by an adult, the adult being one of the child’s parents, caregiver, or family friend. Children over the age of 12 can generally sail solo. Various factors including weather conditions, and the person’s (child or adult) experience and confidence are all taken into account in making a decision as to whether someone will be allowed to sail or not, and this is at the discretion of the Officer of the Day.
